An introduction class that has a little bit of everything! Modern, Jazz and Ballet, through games, song, and dance. Students will learn coordination and spatial awareness with a specific focus on class etiquette. A fantastic introduction to dance. $135 / 8 Classes

NO BUNS needed! This class focuses on learning Classical Ballet technique & terminology without fear. Learn to use Ballet technique to enhance any style of dance you are interested in. Classes will include barre exercises, center floor work, and across-the-floor combinations, with an emphasis on musicality and expression. $95

The Monologue Workshop is fun fun fun! Designed with age appropriate material for each student to make their monologues there own. Students will practice, perform and listen to others perform their work. Students will receive and offer feedback to enhance overall learning comprehension! Scene Study is ideal for any student who has an interest in acting on stage, film, or television. Students pick a scene that excites them and spend 4 weeks bringing it to life through acting and blocking! Students will learn how to analyze their script, work in pairs and will have a blast! $95

This workshop will not only incorporate Jazz and Ballet technique, it will also offer an opportunity to learn different repertory from some of the most popular Broadway shows! A fun way to learn performance skills such as: connection to the audience and how to tell a story through dance. $95

Pick up your script and watch it after it is shot! This class is a popular one. Students will learn practical On-Camera technique and an in-depth look into the film and television industry. Hettie Barnhill is a broadway actress, teacher, choreographer and the founder of Movement & Characters in the Hudson Valley. Currently performing with Face-Off Unlimited Improv Company in NYC. On Broadway, Hettie has performed in the productions "Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark”, Tony Award-winning,”FELA!" (original cast), based on the life and music of the late Nigerian singer Fela Kuti, and the Tony -Award-nominated “Leap Of Faith” (original cast).
Currently, she will be performing in The Metropolitan Opera’s Production of “Romeo & Juliet”. Off stage, Hettie uses her art as therapy for people in need and was recipient of the 2011 NAACP "Top 12 Leaders 40 & Under Award" in the field of "Arts and Culture" and twice honored as a “Rising Star” by the Young & Powerful for Obama Group for the outreach and work she has done for her community.
Other recent Credits includes: “Lulu” at the MET, “Maverick” (NYC showcase) “Fly” A new musical, ”Law and Order SVU", "The Knick" and upcoming feature film "King Bolden”. Recent Teaching Credits includes; Mark Morris Dance Center, The JCC Triple Threat Program, and Stephens College Dance Department.
WHO IS HETTIE?

Timothy Shipley
Dance/Acting Guest Instructor
Timothy is a performer, choreographer, theater educator, and props artisan. He recently graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Theatre Arts with a concentration in Performance and a Minor in Art History from the State University of New York at New Paltz.
Growing up in a suburb of Buffalo, NY he was featured in many shows at Williamsville North High School and at the Academy of Theatre Arts under the direction of Dina Slawson. During his time at SUNY New Paltz, Timothy was featured in several shows both with the theater department and with student groups on campus. He also worked on multiple shows as a "props master" under the supervision of Ken Goldstein.
Professionally Timothy has worked in multiple aspects of theater. He has worked as an actor, props artisan, choreographer, and theater educator with companies such as Millbrook Playhouse, A Class Act NY, In Our Words, and Movement & Characters. Currently, Timothy is serving as the education intern at New York Theatre Workshop and as an administrative assistant at "A Class Act NY". In addition to this he is also assistant directing A Class Act NY's production of Spamalot and in rehearsals for Two Star Motel with The Dare Tactic.
